Who Are We?
Paul Gardiner, Founder
Paul Gardiner is a seasoned technology and payments executive with over 25 years of global experience driving transformation across fintech, banking, and infrastructure-led businesses.
As Chief Information & Technology Officer at NCR Atleos, a $2B fintech spin-out from NCR Corporation, Paul led one of the industry’s most complex technology separations. He built a new IT and engineering organization from the ground up, modernized enterprise systems through ERP and AI transformation, and established the foundations for a payments & supply chain platform serving more than 800,000 ATMs worldwide. His work redefined resilience, cost structure, and compliance for the newly independent company.
Previously at NCR Corporation, Paul directed global payments processing delivery across POS and eCommerce, driving modernization that improved reliability, scalability, and regulatory alignment.
Before that, as CTO of Cardtronics, he unified a 225,000-ATM network across multiple continents and led the creation of an industry-defining software platform, transforming the ATM experience and enabling enterprise-level efficiencies and innovation.
Paul’s early career included scaling and exiting in the startup world, where he helped grow Level Four Software into a successful, global fintech business and led its private sale. This early experience shaped his pragmatic and growth-oriented approach to technology leadership.
He has since played key roles in major corporate transactions, including the $2.4B sale of Cardtronics to NCR and the $2B spin-out of NCR Atleos, overseeing integration, divestment, and synergy realization.
Through Marin Fintech, Paul now helps startups, scale-ups, and enterprises define business requirements, solve complex challenges, and execute with precision. His consultancy focuses on Fractional CTO advisory, Payments and M&A strategy, and U.S. market entry support for international fintechs.
